The Anti Aging Power of ProFractional Laser Treatments

Joseph W. Rucker, MD, FACS

A steady stream of new laser and energy-based treatments floods the market. Unfortunately, there is no one laser treatment that will address all of the possible skin changes that come with aging. At the Enza Medispa, I and my staff are here to help you understand the many anti-aging treatments available. Your first step is to schedule a consultation to identify your concerns and gain an understanding of the different types of procedures. Together, we can develop an ongoing plan that best fits your needs.

What is a laser?

The term laser is often misused to describe the many beauty treatments that have energy sources, but a true laser uses a crystal to produce a targeted light beam.

What is ProFractional?

ProFractional is a quick and comfortable laser procedure used for improving the overall appearance of your skin. Only a fraction of the skin is directly targeted with a laser during each treatment, so healing time is quick with little or no downtime.

What conditions can be treated?

ProFractional can be used to improve a wide variety of skin conditions, including:

  • Wrinkles and fine lines
  • Post-traumatic scars
  • Acne scars
  • Sun spots
  • Freckles
  • Aging and sun-damaged skin

What does it do?

The ProFractional Laser resurfacing bridges the gap between ablative and non-ablative lasers. These Fractional lasers create thousands of microscopic wounds on the skin that resurface the entire treated area over a series of treatments. The areas of untreated skin are activated to encourage the body’s natural healing process and the treated areas are stimulated to produce new collagen and plump up the skin, smoothing out wrinkles, lines, scars and other irregularities.

Who should consider fractional laser treatment?

There’s no specific age. If you are seeking younger looking skin, or to improve scars, wrinkles or sun damage, with minimal discomfort and a fast recovery, you may be an ideal candidate for ProFractional Laser.

How many treatments will I need?

ProFractional is typically done as a series of 2 to 4 treatments. At Enza Medispa, we offer packages that pair several treatments based on your skin’s needs. We may combine ProFractional with a MicroLaser Peel and/or Microdermabrasions and Lite Chemical Peels.

What should I expect after treatment?

Immediately following the procedure you may experience a mild redness and sensitivity, resembling a light sunburn sensation. Complete healing is usually within 2 to 5 days depending on the depth of treatment.

What special after-treatment care will I need?

It is important to follow your physician’s instructions, which will include skin care products and instructions on how to use them. Your skin will be more sensitive to sun/ultra-violet light exposure as it heals and there may be some slight swelling after the procedure.

A complete treatment plan is necessary for maximum results. You will see progressive improvement after each treatment, depending on your needs and how you maintain your skin’s health at home.
As a proactive practice in Plastic Surgery, I will continue to seek out new technology – which is why we are offering the ProFractional Laser Treatments.

In my 25 years of experience with the use of laser technology for skin rejuvenation, I have come to realize that the key to attaining excellent results is by first individualizing each treatment plan to the life style and skin type of each candidate. We call this the Synergy Skin Care Program. Coordinating your expectations, life style, skin type, treatments and products together into a life-long, manageable plan will produce the best results for healthy skin and the youthful appearance you desire.
