Hand trauma is widely prevalent in our region.
Widely varied presentation depends on the mechanism of
the injury. Services offered include digital replantation,
fracture fixation and soft tissue reconstruction.
Replantation
Replantation is indicated for sharp amputation of high priority
digits, such as the thumb, index or long finger. The procedure
involves approximately three to four hours of micro surgery
where in digital arteries, digital veins, and digital nerves
are reconstructed. Boney stabilization if achieved and tendons
are repaired. Sutures are removed in two weeks and rehabilitation
begins between two and four weeks.
Recovery time:
Hand rehabilitation is a major factor in the recovery after
digital replantation and a team of highly skilled professional
hand therapists are utilized to this end.
