Masses; lumps, cysts, tumors Arthritis: thumb, joint, osteo and rheumatoid, surgical reconstruction Nerve compression: trigger finger, carpal tunnel, Traumatic injury: reattachment, Tendon and ligament repair Weakness and/or pain

Tumors (a Greek word for mass or bump) can affect any part of the body. In the hand, because of the variety of tissue types, many different types of tumors can develop. The most common are Ganglion cysts, Giant cell tumor, Inclusion cysts and Lipomas.

Accurate diagnosis is essential and excision of the mass is required to determine the benign or potentially malignant nature of the tissue. Specific surgical approaches, operating time and recovery time vary with the location and size of the mass.
