Scar Revision

The vast majority of scarring that we manage is usually located on the face. Most cases are secondary to trauma such as auto accidents or animal attacks, but many patients seek improvement following the scarring caused by acne. These scars can’t be totally removed however most scars can be improved to the point of being almost nondetectable.

In the vast majority of cases this is an outpatient procedure done under a local I.V. sedation anesthetic and can usually be performed in our office operative suite. In some cases, because of functional problems associated with the scarring, insurance can be helpful in the costs of these procedures.

Recovery time:

Sutures are removed 6-8 days after surgery. The scar will gradually fade over the next 6 months and approximately 20-25% of our patients request a small laser resurfacing in order to enhance the overall result.
